Undoubtedly Childress will be a better coach with better talent but, as one scribe put it, you're judged but what you do with the talent that you have. Childress lauded his receiving corps at the beginning of the season as a position of strength. Does he now believe he was wrong? Or does he believe that a handful of catches from Koren Robinson would have made the difference? I'll have more on this issue in a future column. I don't dismiss what you say, because I absolutely agree that the talent is not superb. But there is enough talent to do something--a case that Mike Tice well made last year.

As for upgrading the passing game, that, of course, will be the trick. The Vikings will find offensive linemen and probably a quality receiver in free agency but probably not a quarterback. And there aren't a plethora of quality quarterbacks on the market this off-year. We shall see.

VGvikes geekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06530336385552424416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268346.post-1165344516624369672006-12-05T12:48:00.000-06:002006-12-05T12:48:00.000-06:00The decision for the Vikings to enter 2006 with no...The decision for the Vikings to enter 2006 with no better option at QB is what has killed the Viking season. I've found the offense too conservative too, but at the same time, the passing game features Brad Johnson throwing to Travis Taylor, Marcus Robinson, Billy McMullen, and Troy Williamson. Think about that. How is Childress supposed to call an aggressive game when THAT is what he has in the passing game?

I think Childress will be fine. I think the offensive line will be good for a while, and there's a chance the defense can be good for a while. The key will be bringing in good players to run the passing game.Pacifist Vikinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16630996018868040440noreply@blogger.com
